Most cultures have creation stories. The Tantric tradition suggests that in the beginning, there is no beginning; infinite consciousness has simply not yet assumed the activity of mind. This single, infinite, indivisible reality then stirs within itself and sends out ripples, variously described as the Word or the Logos, the first movement of divine intelligence. Consciousness then multiplies and diversifies itself and becomes the archetypal forms, or Platonic ideals, that underlie the visible universe. These ripples turn in on themselves and coalesce into a locus of consciousness, a finite mind, from whose perspective the unlocalised activity of consciousness appears as the universe. When we overlook our true nature, we seem to become a temporary, finite self, and from this perspective there seem to be others and objects. This meditation is a way to realign the way we feel the body and perceive the world, with our understanding of reality as a single and indivisible whole.
