Reality Is One

To condense all formulations of non-dual understanding into one sentence, it might be: ‘Peace and happiness are the nature of your being, and you share your being with everyone and everything.’ To condense it further: Reality is One. The entire understanding can be extrapolated from this statement. If reality is One, it cannot have boundaries or limitations – any limit would require something other than itself. Therefore, the One is infinite without limit. No divisions in the One – any division would require something other than itself to create it. The One must be perfect, can only be known by itself, and cannot forget or overlook itself. There is no real veiling, ignorance, lack, desire, fear or sorrow in the One. We know absence of otherness as love towards people and beauty towards objects. The One appears as many via thought and perception, which confer names and forms without the One ever ceasing to be itself.
