Start with the One and Remain There

A spiritual path begins with an individual seeking enlightenment, God. Some teachings accommodate the belief in the individual and suggest practices that perpetuate this belief. Eventually we recognise that the individual doesn’t exist and the impulse to practise diminishes, understanding deepens and the teaching evolves. There are fewer instructions, fewer suggestions. Ramana Maharshi only elaborated on methods for those who were not sufficiently mature to simply abide in the silence of the heart. Some teachings start with the assumption of separation and move towards the one. This approach starts with the one and remains there, in self-abidance. Beyond that there is nothing to be said. The one does not need to abide in itself; it simply is itself. Like a fire, it turns everything into itself. There is nothing either to be separate from or united with. There is just God's infinite being, and everyone and everything is only that.
