The Path and the Goal Is Simply Being

We think of enlightenment as an extraordinary experience to acquire and so we embark on a great search. This search is based on a misunderstanding. Our true self shines in us as ‘I am’. The apparently separate self experiences 'I am this' and 'I am that'. In the first case, the ‘I am’ is unqualified; in the second case, that same ‘I am’ is qualified by experience. There is no difference between the unqualified ‘I am’ of our true nature and the qualified ‘I am’ of the separate self. There is no pathway from one to the other. This understanding brings the great search to an end. Doing subsides in being. Practice perpetuates the belief that we are something other than infinite being. Being is not a practice; it is what we are. The path is simply being and the goal is simply being. Be only being. Know only being. Love only being.
